Religion - Chapter One - "God Speaks to Us"

Wordly Wise - Lesson 1 - A spelling pretest was given on the ten vocabulary words on Monday. This Friday, the children will be tested on them (spelling only).

Reading - Monday we focused on story vocabulary and the importance of sequence in a story. This week we will read the first story "How I Spent my Summer Vacation."

English - Unit One - The Sentence - We will learn about what makes a sentence complete and correct.

Writing - We will focus on the structure of Writers' Workshop in the third grade. We will start to organize our thoughts to write a piece about our summer vacations.

Math - Chapter One - Place Value - This week we will focus on place value up to the hundreds, comparing numbers, and ordering numbers. We will also discuss some problem solving strategies.

Social Studies - Chapter One - Mighty Waters - This week we will read and discuss Lesson One, "Sand and Salt," which is about oceans, coastlines, and erosion.

Science - Unit A - Chapter One - The Roles of Living Things - After an introduction to the Science book, we will begin our unit on living things, specifically plants and animals.

* Math worksheet
* Summer reading book report is due Friday, August 29.
* Please bring FIVE large/jumbo book covers by Friday.
