Welcome to the Computer Lab
Each week students in Kindergarten, First, Second, and Third grades have computer class in the lab following a curriculum that reinforces classroom work.
Kindergarten
The Kindergarten uses various programs to reinforce number and letter recognition, Kid Pix to express themselves creatively, Type to Learn Jr. to develop keyboarding skills, and word processing to write the "Forty Most Common Words".
First Grade
The First Grade uses word processing to practice sentence writing and publish stories, Kid Pix to create drawings to insert into their work, and Type to Learn Jr. to practice keyboarding skills. The fourth and fifth projects is to have each student create his or her own Mother's Day and Father's Day cards.
Second Grade
The Second Grade uses word processing to write letters, poems, cards and reports, Kid Pix to illustrate their writing, and Type to Learn to practice keyboarding skills. The fourth project in the computer class is to do a report on the planets and their moon(s). Each student will learn do research on, write down the fact about, and, finally, write a report on his / her planet or moon(s) of a planet.
Third Grade
The Third Grade uses the internet to gather information and find pictures for assigned reports, word processing to type their work, and Type to Learn to practice keyboarding skills. The fourth project will be to teach each student how to get information on a state, how to use Power Point to create a title page and illustration pages for the state report.
