Sept. 3-Noon dismissal (No Extended Care) Sept. 6-No school-Labor Day Holiday Sept 20th-Oct 1st - IOWA Testing (A standardized test for grades 2 through 8) Sept. 27th- Full Days for Kindergarten (1:55 Dismissal) Oct 1st-First Friday Mass 8:10am and donuts (Kindergarten may attend. Please check the website for more up-to-date information) Takes place every first Friday of the month. Kindergarten will begin attending in October. This year Kindergarten will be attending First Friday Mass on the following dates: 11/5, 12/3, 1/7, 3/4, 4/1, 5/6. On these days Kindergarteners will be able to purchase donuts at morning recess for .75 cents. We had a good number of responses to our request for "Parent Helpers". We are grateful to have such an enthusiastic group of parents. The list of parent helpers went home in your child's folder on 8/31. If there are any corrections to be made or if you would like to add yourself to the list, please do so and return in your child's folder as soon as possible. If you are coordinating a group of helpers, please make up a schedule for that activity and you can either call the parent helpers or send a note to school that we can send home to them. Thank you for helping make this a great year! Beginning Monday, September 27th, Kindergarten will be transitioning to full days. (September 27th is also a 1:55 Dismissal for the whole school). Lunches - We are encouraging children to bring healthy lunches to school. This is the perfect time to help the children develop healthy habits. Please include a snack for recess. IF your child will be going to lunch counter, please send us a note to let us know. Towels - The children need to bring a towel for rest time. Please send a towel not much bigger than their body and please make sure their name is on it. The students seem to need to go to the bathroom very often. Please help us by reminding your child that they need to go to the bathroom before school, and during snack (when we send them) and lunch. They miss a lot of school time when they leave the room to use the bathroom. We understand that there are emergencies and will let the child go when needed, but not just to leave the classroom. Thank you for your help! Starting September 10th, one ladybug student and one bumblebee student will be bringing Bear home with them. Bear will go home with the students on Friday and needs to come back to school on Monday! Bear will come home with his backpack, which will have his journal in it. Please help bear tell of his super, fun weekend with your child in his journal. In the past families have included pictures of their weekend with bear. This journal will then be placed in the Auction, the following year, for one lucky family to purchase! Also, going home with bear and your child is an All About Me poster. Please help your child fill out and decorate the poster. On Monday when we return to school, your child will get to share their poster and the teachers will read the bear journal to the class. This helps us work on oral speaking and getting to know each other! PLEASE PUT IT IN WRITING! If your child will be picked up by anyone other than the person who usually picks them up, or if they will be going to Extended Care, please write a short note and put it in their folder. They often think they are having a play date or they are going home with someone else and it's helpful for us to know for sure. It is also helpful to know if something has happened in their lives that may cause them stress or is upsetting to them. (death of a pet, illness in the family, etc.). Please empty your child's folder every night. Please Write Names on your child's sweatshirt, jacket, backpack and lunchbox. 1. Send in a note in your child's folder. 2.
