A Message from Ms. Mullin

Dear St. Raymond Parents,

Congratulations to the 8th grade on a beautiful May Crowning last Thursday.  This event marks the year anniversary of my introduction to the St. Raymond Community as this was my first opportunity to meet the wonderful students, parents, and teachers that make this place what it is.  It was special to meet so many wonderful former Mother's Club presidents and alumni parents at the Alumni Brunch following mass.  We were blessed to also host  Mrs. Kelly and present her with the "Mrs. Kelly's Buddy Bench" that currently sits outside the office doors.  This bench will be moved to a permanent location closer to the playground over the summer, and we hope you all stop by to see this tribute to a woman who was everyone's buddy at St. Raymond for 30 years.

Have I mentioned how amazing our community is?  Did you know our students set an all-time record high for the money fundraised at the Jog-a-Thon last Friday?  While we will announce final numbers during our celebration assembly on Monday, 5/15, at 11:00 am, please take a moment to congratulate our students for their commitment to this event. Each child brought his or her best to the track demonstrating their desire to Be the Difference.  Thank you to every parent who made time to support the students through counting laps, grilling burgers, or cheering.  You really are the difference in our community!

I hope you have more energy left because this week is full of more fun including some fabulous field trips!  Our JK and 6th grade had a wonderful field trip to the Academy of Science while 3rd grade learned more about waste during their field trip to Shoreway Ecology yesterday.  Our 1st grade rounds out the off-campus trips by visiting a sustainable farm later this week.  However, prepare to take a trip back to Colonial times and prepare to see colonists on campus tomorrow as our 5th grade engages in Colonial Day.

If you were anywhere near campus today, you may have noticed a few extra "teachers."  It was such fun to see so many students celebrate spirit day by dressing as a teacher.  We even had a few teachers in full St. Raymond uniform!  We look forward to celebrating the track team with our final spirit rally of the school year this Friday beginning at 2:00 pm.  Don't worry, you can keep the fun going by attending our Alumni Game later that evening.  The BBQ begins at 5:00 pm.

Finally, I hope to see many of you at our last Muffins with Mullin of the year on Thursday, 5/18, at 8:00 am in the Parish Hall.  The topic of this discussion includes more information about plans for the 2017-2018 Innovation Center as well as other forward-thinking opportunities we have planned for the coming school year.

As always, my door is open.  GO CARDINALS!

Mothers' Club

Hello fellow Cardinals!

Less than a month of school left in the year…where did the time go? I hope all of you wonderful mamas will be celebrated and cherished on Sunday. Happy Mother's Day! Thank you for all that you do for our school!

A HUGE shout out to Heidi Butz and Colleen Miltenberg for an amazing Jog-A-Thon last Friday. The day was flawlessly executed, and the kids all had fun, which is the most important part. Thank you for taking time out of your day to come cheer them on and support the school. Please help us get those donations in so that we may celebrate the successes of our kids and deliver the donations for technology to Ms. Mullin!

May is always a busy month here at St. Raymond, but also so much fun! Here are a few reminders for this week:

Our beautiful Mothers' Club Spring Luncheon is next Tuesday, May 16th. It is sure to be another nice celebration for all of our St. Raymond Moms. We need to give the Circus Club our FINAL headcount this Friday, so please be sure you have RSVP'd by tomorrow, Thursday, May 11th. Thanks so much!

Family movie night on the St. Raymond lawn is this Friday, starting at 7:30 pm. Come early for the Alumni Games and the Fathers' Club BBQ, which begins at 5 pm. We will watch a featured film and enjoy popcorn, desserts, and drinks. Bring a blanket, picnic dinner, a warm jacket and a bottle of wine to enjoy with friends and families. This was an offering at last fall's auction, hosted by the 3rd grade class. Thank you 3rd grade! Cost is $10 per person. If you do not remember whether or not you signed up, or to sign up to join us, please go to this link.

That's it for now. Have a wonderful rest of your week!

JOIN US! - Annual Steak & Lobster Dinner

The Annual Steak & Lobster Dinner is just around the corner – and, it's not too late to sign up and celebrate another wonderful year with the parents and faculty of the St. Raymond community! Hosted by the St. Raymond Fathers' Club, this event will honor all St. Raymond "Mothers" for their dedication and hard work to St. Raymond School. This annual event will be held on Saturday, May 20 at 5:30PM on the lawn in front of the Arbor House.

In addition to celebrating the work of our St. Raymond Mothers', we also have the pleasure of recognizing our outgoing Fathers' Club President, JT Sison. Over the past two years, JT has guided the Fathers' Club in countless ways as our St. Raymond Fathers have identified the four pillars of support the Fathers' Club provides to the school. JT will remain active as he assumes the coordinator role for all Fathers' Club activities with our Alumni network (CAPA). Finally, we will also display the upgrades to the Kennedy Center that Ms. Mullin announced at the golf tournament. Come have a firsthand look as we begin the process of upgrading our classrooms and the gym!

If you purchased tickets at the auction, you will receive a Paperless Post invitation. If you have yet to purchase tickets, please sign up and make payment online, 2017 Steak and Lobster Dinner. The cost is $75 per person, and should financial assistance make it possible for you to attend, please reach out to Ms. Mullin. Please purchase all tickets by Thursday, May 11, so that we will have time to procure the food, linens and settings.

If you are new to St. Raymond School this year, you definitely don't want to miss this awesome surf & turf dinner under the stars. It's a St. Raymond favorite!

Please reach out to Carl Hansen carlhansen@gmail.com or Jack Cassel jbcassel2@gmail.com with any questions.

School Families Gathering

May 17th marks the last of our School Family gatherings for the school year. We will be holding a School Family Picnic! Each family will sit together on blankets provided by the family leader, and have lunch. All students are expected to each bring a bag lunch this day as there will be NO LUNCH COUNTER available. We will hold a whole school recess after lunch in which families will play games together.

School families have had a great year of meetings and activities. Students have gotten to know one another better, built stronger connections, and most importantly have had fun together.

We want to thank all of our students for their cooperation with our School Family program. We really are making a difference in our school community.
