Scrip - FAQs

Scrip is a historical term that roughly equates to "substitute money or credit". In modern terms, Scrip is a program through which organizations, like St. Raymond School, can fundraise during the calendar year. Scrip is a revenue campaign where funds are produced from money that you are already spending at grocery, department, drug, specialty and retail stores, and a variety of restaurants.

Important Note: It is important for families to register for eScrip immediately so that purchases begin to count toward Scrip commitment. Do not wait until school starts in August as you will only have five months of eScrip to meet your commitment.

How does it work?

At St. Raymond School, there are four (3) types of Scrip:

  • eScrip: this form of scrip requires an annual online registration of your debit/ATM, credit, and loyalty cards on the eScrip website, which then associates your cards with the following grocery stores: Draeger’s, Key Markets, Lunardi’s, Lucky Stores, Save Mart and Food Maxx. The eScrip website links your cards with all purchases you make at the aforementioned stores, and returns a percentage of your purchases to St. Raymond. This is the fastest form of scrip to setup because once you register your cards on the eScrip site, the fundraising for St. Raymond automatically begins.

RECENT CHANGE ALERT: Safeway has withdrawn from the eScrip progam. You may purchase Safeway Scrip through the Special Scrip Program. Beginning April 1, 2016, Lucky Stores, Save Mart and Food Maxx will partner with eScrip. Register your phone number or your Lucky “Lucky You” Rewards card number to earn up to 3% of your purchase amount.

  • Special Scrip: this form of scrip is made through the “Special Scrip Order Form” which will be in your Wednesday envelope once a month. Special Scrip takes the form of ‘gift’ cards in that you purchase a specific amount of credit for a specific vendor. Examples of Special Scrip vendors include: Whole Foods, Amazon, Target, Banana Republic, Zappos. The Special Scrip then functions as gift card when you shop at these vendors. You may purchase Safeway Scrip through the Special Scrip Program.
  • Office scrip: this form of scrip is purchased any time during the school year in the front office. Office scrip is only for four vendors: Dennis Uniform, Macy’s, Peet’s Coffee and Starbucks.

Which Scrip is right for my family?

St. Raymond School receives a percentage of your purchase every time you use a card registered with eScrip, purchase a Special Scrip "gift" card or Office Scrip. All scrip is ideal for your family. Keep in mind that once you meet your $5000 scrip commitment, St. Raymond continues to receive a percentage of the purchases you make via the Scrip program. Additionally, if you’re a regular Whole Foods or Amazon shopper, you can continue making monthly Special Scrip orders, thereby continuing the fundraising benefits for St. Raymond. And finally, we’re all likely to make at least a few trips to Dennis, Macy’s, Peet’s and Starbucks throughout the year. So consider stopping in to pick up Office Scrip before you visit those vendors. In short, if you consider all of the ways you shop throughout the calendar year, you’ll likely realize that a combination of all the scrip options is "right" for your family.

What is my Scrip commitment for the School Year?

If you selected the Participatory tuition rate, your Scrip commitment is $5,000.

How can I meet my Scrip commitment?

At St. Raymond, there are four types of Scrip:

  • eScrip (electronic SCRIP): requires an annual online registration of your credit, debit/ATM, and loyalty cards on the eScrip website, which then associates your cards with the following grocery stores: Draeger's, Key Markets, and Lunardi's etc. The eScrip website links your cards with all purchases you make and returns a percentage of your purchases to St. Raymond. This is the fastest form of scrip to setup because once you register your cards on the eScrip site, the fundraising for St. Raymond automatically begins.
    Please Note:
Effective August 1, 2015, Safeway, Carrs/Safeway, Vons & Pavilions are no longer participating in the eScrip program.
  • Lucky's SHARES: This form of scrip is sponsored exclusively by Lucky Supermarkets via a "Lucky's SHARES" card. To get the card, contact St. Raymond's SHARES coordinator Joan Brumleve. Once you have the card, use it every time you shop Lucky Supermarkets.
  • Special Scrip: purchased scrip through the "Special Scrip Order Form" which will be in your Wednesday envelope once a month.Special Scrip takes the form of 'gift' cards in that you purchase a specific amount of credit for a specific vendor. Examples of Special Scrip vendors include: Whole Foods, Amazon, Target, Banana Republic, Barnes & Noble, Zappos. The Special Scrip then functions as gift card cash when you shop at these vendors. Additionally, you're not limited to the items and products that you can purchase with the scrip, and this form of scrip never expires.
  • Office Scrip: purchased any time during the school year in the school office. Office scrip is only for four vendors: Dennis Uniform, Macy's, Peet's Coffee and Starbucks.

What period “counts” towards my yearly commitment?

Beginning March 16 of the previous school year through March 15 of the current school year. NOTE: for eScrip we use what is reported from March 16  through the following year March 15.

How often do you report how I am doing in meeting my Scrip commitment?

You will receive a report in the Wednesday envelope at the beginning of every month.

Can I get credit for my Dennis Uniform Purchase?

Yes. You will need to buy Scrip from either the office or the Special Scrip order PRIOR to going to the Dennis Uniform Store in order to get Scrip credit for your Dennis Uniform purchases,

After I have reached my Scrip commitment can I transfer the “extra” to someone else?

No, it is expected that each family will individually meet the amount of Scrip that they committed to the school community when they signed their tuition contract. Unless you have made arrangements with Ms. Kellie Mullin, Principal to modify your commitment, you are responsible to buy $5,000 worth of Scrip. Please keep buying scrip after your $5000 commitment has been met. It continues to help our school.

Can I buy out of my Scrip commitment?

A family may choose to be on the "participatory" tuition rate but may buy out of their Scrip commitment. A family may attempt to make its Scrip commitment throughout the school year and at the end of the year pay 10% of any outstanding balance. e.g. If a family has only purchased $2000 of their $5000 Scrip commitment by March 15, they will owe $300 (10% of the remaining $3000 balance).

What if I do not meet my Scrip commitment?

If you do not meet your Scrip commitment by March15 of the school year, you will be billed 10% of the amount not met.
